President William Ruto on Tuesday received the report on the recruitment of nominees for the positions of Chairperson and Members of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) from the IEBC Selection Panel at State House, Nairobi.
The report was formally presented by the panel chaired by Dr. Nelson Makanda, following a comprehensive selection process aimed at filling the vacant positions within the electoral body.
President Ruto commended the Selection Panel for its dedication and professionalism throughout the recruitment exercise.
“I thank the panel, under the leadership of Dr. Makanda, for their diligent and commendable work,” the President stated. “In accordance with the provisions of the IEBC Act, I will nominate and transmit the names to the National Assembly in full fidelity to the constitutional principles that guide our system of governance.”
The submission of the report marks a critical step in the reconstitution of the IEBC, which plays a central role in managing elections and safeguarding democratic processes in Kenya.
Once nominated, the candidates will undergo vetting by the National Assembly before formal appointment. The nation now awaits the names of those proposed to take up the vital roles at the helm of the IEBC.
