Prominent Kitui leader Sammy Muisyo has called on President William Ruto to visit Kitui County and oversee key development projects, emphasizing the urgent need for infrastructure improvements and economic growth in the region.
Speaking at a public gathering, Muisyo criticized those opposing the President’s visit, arguing that development initiatives cannot progress if politics hinder such engagements.
“We need the President to come to Kitui and see for himself the challenges we are facing. Development cannot happen if leaders keep politicizing his visits. Those who do not want him here simply do not understand how things work,” Muisyo stated.
The leader commended President Ruto for his nationwide development efforts, citing ongoing projects that have had a positive impact on various sectors of the economy. He expressed confidence in the President’s leadership and his commitment to transforming the country.
“I want to thank President Ruto for the good work he is doing across the country. His leadership is bringing real change, and we appreciate his dedication,” he said.
However, Muisyo raised concerns over the delayed disbursement of county funds, warning that stalled development projects were negatively affecting residents. He urged the President to expedite the release of funds to enable county governments to function effectively.
“Right now, development has come to a standstill because counties do not have money. I am pleading with the President to intervene and ensure funds are released so that projects can continue,” Muisyo added.
His remarks come at a time when many county governments are grappling with financial constraints due to delays in treasury allocations.
Residents of Kitui echoed Muisyo’s sentiments, welcoming the prospect of President Ruto’s visit and expressing hope that it would result in tangible development for the region.
As the call for increased resources and presidential attention gains momentum, all eyes remain on the national government to see how it will address these pressing concerns.
